Be A Masterpiece began in Dubai in 2019 — one bolt of Japanese silk, one tailor, and a founder who refused to call an abaya "just black."

Nadezhda Temirbayeva trained as an architect. She spent four years at a Dubai firm designing residential facades before she noticed that the same principles — mass, drape, proportion, how a curve meets a line — governed the abayas her grandmother had tailored in the 1970s.
Be A Masterpiece is what happened when she stopped pretending the two disciplines were different. The first collection — six pieces cut from a single bolt of ivory silk-cotton — sold out in nine days from a rented shopfront in Al Fahidi.
Seven years later, the maison operates from a converted warehouse in Al Quoz. The team is nine women. The waiting list for a bespoke piece is fourteen weeks. The founder still cuts the first prototype of every collection herself, on a table her grandmother left her.
